  • Wear your Identification Card
  • If you see something apparently being stolen - Report it!
  • Motor vehicles unlocked in Carparks? - Report it!
  • Should that door be open? - Report it!
  • Whose bag is that? If you saw it, so could a Thief! Tell the owner
  • Report any suspicious behaviour.

Bicycle Theft

Bicycles are always a popular item for Thieves on our Campus. Please place your bicycle in the approved racks provided on Campus. Do Not leave your bicycle attached to railings at Building entrances or chained to Fire Stairs. Bicycles will be removed by Security as unauthorised placing of your cycle in these locations constitutes a Occupational, Health and Safety issue.

Past experiences and reports clearly demonstrate those bicycle owners who use a quality " D Shackle" to secure their property rarely are placed in the unfortunate situation of having to report a Theft. Security Services recommend the use of a quality " D Shackle."

Only two instances out of a total sixty five (65) instances of Bicycle Theft reported to Security during 2004 involved D Shackle security devices. All other thefts related to property owners security devices considered less effective because of their design or manner by which the device was attached.

With your assistance let us reduce the number of bicycle thefts on Campus.
